D.S.B.V. Punch is one of the oldest sports associations at TU Delft. The club even has its own Wikipedia page. Student basketball players from all over the world come together here to practise, compete and enjoy student life in Delft.
Punch has an international and open culture. Alongside practices and games, the club regularly organises internal tournaments, drinks and other activities where members can meet beyond their own team.
The club is supported by TU Delft and X TU Delft. X is also the home of our practices and home games. There is much more to discover at the X sports and culture centre.
Club history
More than seventy years of student basketball in Delft.
Since its founding in 1952, D.S.B.V. Punch has grown into one of the oldest and most successful student basketball associations in the Netherlands. What began as a small Delft student initiative became a thriving club with a proud history and a lively community.
Punch quickly made its mark on Dutch basketball. From 1960 until 1982, the club competed at the highest national level. Punch won the Dutch national championship in 1969 and 1975 and the Dutch Basketball Cup in 1974. Those achievements also brought European competition against some of the continent's strongest teams.
Although Punch has changed over the decades, its core values remain the same: a passion for basketball, friendship and student life. Members of different backgrounds and playing levels can develop on and off the court.
Beyond basketball, Punch is known for tournaments, team weekends, parties and year-round activities made possible by committed committees and volunteers. Generations of members have found lasting friendships here.
More than seventy years after its founding, Punch continues to build on this history. Every player, coach, volunteer and supporter helps write the next chapter.

The responsibilities behind each board role.
Chair
The chair leads the board, guards the association's strategy and goals, chairs meetings and represents Punch to federations, sponsors and other organisations.
Secretary
The secretary manages administration and communication, prepares agendas and minutes, maintains the archive and correspondence, and helps ensure the association follows its statutes and regulations.
Treasurer
The treasurer manages the budget, income, expenses, contribution payments, subsidies and sponsorship income, and reports transparently to the board and General Members' Meeting.
Game commissioner
The game commissioner organises league games, coordinates schedules, referees and table duties, and handles changes when games move or are cancelled.
Technical commissioner
The technical commissioner coordinates basketball policy, practices, team selections and try-outs, supports coaches and monitors player development.

Punch's annual weekend of basketball, friendship and celebration.
Every year, D.S.B.V. Punch hosts one of the Netherlands' largest international student basketball tournaments. Teams from across Europe—and plenty from the Netherlands—come to Delft for a full weekend of competition, friendship and celebration.
Hundreds of players of different levels take part in games, social activities and themed parties. The tournament is organised by Punch volunteers and has become a much-loved tradition that reflects the club's welcoming and international character.

Jan Sikking
Jan Sikking is one of the defining figures in the history of D.S.B.V. Punch. As a standout player during the club's golden era in the 1970s, he helped Punch win two Dutch national championships and a Dutch Cup and represented the Netherlands internationally. His commitment continued for decades as a coach, mentor and ambassador. Punch retired his iconic number 7 jersey in recognition of that extraordinary contribution—the highest honour the club can bestow.
